Evansville junior big man Connor Turnbull finished his first season with the Aces by earning the highest honor on defense in the Missouri Valley Conference: Defensive Player of the Year.
Turnbull anchored the Evansville defense all season long, averaging nearly two blocks per game to lead the MVC. He was even better in conference play, posting well over two blocks per game in MVC contests. His 61 total blocks rank inside the Top 30 in the nation.
Connor’s efforts led him to be named to the Missouri Valley Conference All Defensive Team as well as the DPOY honors. He is just the second Evansville player ever to be named Conference DPOY and the fifth to be on the All-Defensive Team, but the first in nearly a decade.
In addition to the blocks, Turnbull averaged 9.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
