Brandon Miller’s standout freshman season at Alabama isn’t over quite yet, with the SEC Tournament and NCAA Tournament on the horizon, but the Bradley Beal Elite alum is still being recognized for his outstanding accomplishments this season.
Brandon was selected as the South Eastern Conference Player of the Year, by the Associated Press and SEC Coaches, SEC Freshman of the Year by conference coaches and SEC Newcomer of the Year by the Associated Press. He’s the first freshman to win Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year since Anthony Davis did so with Kentucky in 2012. Brandon was also named First Team All-SEC and named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.

The Alabama forward, who was named conference player of the week six times, led the conference in scoring this season, averaging 19.6 points per game, becoming just the fourth freshman to lead the SEC in scoring in the last 50 years. The others are Basketball Hall of Famer Bernard King (Tennessee, 1975), Chris Jackson (LSU, 1989) and Cameron Thomas (LSU, 2021).
In addition to his conference-best scoring numbers, Brandon also averaged eight rebounds per game, and shot 40.4 percent from three, sinking 92 on the season, both tops in the conference. He is the only player in D-1 to score 605 points, record 245 rebounds and make 90 three-pointers this season.
Brandon is also approaching the Alabama record for three-pointers made in a season. He currently ranks fourth in program history, but is just 11 threes shy of the school record of 103 set by Eric Washington in 1995-96.
No. 4 Alabama, the regular season conference champion, opens the SEC Tournament on Friday, March 10th against either Florida or Mississippi State.
